As a next stage of the institutes’ build-up several machines for the plastic production, material optimisation and plastic processing were delivered to the IKK on March 4th, 2020.
With the extruder KraussMaffei ZE28 BluePower with underwater pelletising recipe developments and process optimisations of plastics and composites on the basis of virgin materials as well as recyclates can be conducted. The modular setup of the co-rotating twin-screw extruder allows melting, degassing, reinforcing, filling, colouring, functionalisation with miscellaneous additives, concentrating, homogenisation and compacting of thermoplastics.
The injection moulding machines ARBURG ALLROUNDER 470 A and ALLROUNDER 920 S enable the production of several thermoplastic moulded parts from miscellaneous polymeric materials for research purposes (i. a. determination of characteristic values on the basis of standardised test specimens) and for the application oriented process optimisation of part manufacturing.
Already in 2019 an injection moulding compounder KraussMaffei 650/4300/CX IMC was delivered. With this machine the extrusion-technical material production and the further processing by injection moulding can be combined material-friendly in a single process. Furthermore a so-called DCIM machine (KraussMaffei 160/750 CX DCIM) is planned, allowing the variation of material recipes directly during the part and test specimen manufacturing.
A large range of injection moulds enables the realisation of diverse geometries.
During the coming months the technical centre of the IKK will be complemented with a recycling line from the company EREMA. In addition for next year an extensive tandem extrusion line from KraussMaffei Extrusion in Hannover for complex recycling tasks and for the optimisation of recycling processes and resulting recyclates is in preparation.
