On April 7, Simon Hoebel successfully defended his doctoral thesis on the topic “Recyclability of plastic components as part of future generations of automobiles.”

The work was carried out in close cooperation with Mercedes-Benz AG and the IKK, and its focus was on simulating the aging of automotive components and its effects on material properties.

In addition, Somon Hoebel developed methods for optimizing recycled material quality, an important step toward ensuring the long-term circularity of plastics in automotive manufacturing.
