November of Science, November 4th 2023

Since 2011, the "November of Science" has also been held every two years in Hanover. Under varying mottoes, up to 200 institutions open their doors to the public to report on their work.

The motto of Leibniz University (LUH) this year is "The night that creates knowledge!

On Saturday, 4 November 2023, from 6 pm to midnight, all interested parties are invited to discover Leibniz Universität Hannover at its various locations.

Are you also interested in taking a look behind the scenes and finding out what scientists at the university deal with? What happens behind the doors of research buildings and laboratories? Get an insight via lectures, guided tours, experiments, exhibitions and hands-on activities. Uni programme

We are there, on the Mechanical Engineering Campus in Garbsen and participate with the topic

“Plastics in our waters - what we are researching!”

The IKK is involved in various projects on the formation, the distribution and effects of microplastics in waters.

The tyre abrasion we produce, whether from cars, bicycles, mopeds, scooters etc., is one of them. Rubber is plastic and on the road it becomes microplastics.

What exactly happens and how we can perhaps still be on the move without giving up mobility is explained by Robin Bähre, who is working on his doctoral thesis on the subject.

We wish you an interesting night on the mechanical engineering campus of the LUH and welcome you warmly.
