As part of a joint bachelor thesis between the IKK - Institute of Plastics and Circular Economy of the Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) and the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Iceland (UoI), LUH student Carina Ehlers is further developing a methodology for the environmental assessment of universities and applying it to the UoI in cooperation with Assoc.-Prof. Ólafur Ögmundarson and PhD student Clara Vásquez-Mejía. As a result, the first life cycle assessment for the UoI will to be carried out. Carina Ehlers will use a methodology that was developed at the IKK. Universities can play an important role in the transformation to a more sustainable society and set a good example through scientific evaluation and technical innovation, helping to achieve sustainability goals.

The IKK is looking forward to a further intensification of the cooperation with the university of Iceland and a successful bachelor thesis.
