Titel des Promotionsvorhabens: Supply chain assessments from a social impact perspective (Lieferkettenbewertungen aus Perspektive der sozialen Auswirkungen)

Kurzbeschreibung des Promotionsvorhabens: In theory, the Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) framework offers the possibility to assess impacts of products and materials in all three dimensions of sustainability. Methods like Environmental Life Cycle Assessments (E-LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Social Life Cycle Assessments (S-LCA) are supposed to draw a realistic picture of harms and benefits caused by products and materials along their entire life cycle. In practice, especially S-LCAs lack in applicability due to drawbacks and methodical inconsistencies. The primary purpose of this work is to develop a cross-sectoral social indicator-system for social performance assessments, bolstered by sets of stakeholder groups, social impact categories and indicators to enrich the socio-economic angle of sustainability assessments. The resulting system expands the empirical experience of S-LCAs and has the potential to influence corporate decision making through a more realistic illustration of positive and negative performances of products and materials.
